Is the Exterior of Your House Starting to Look Dirty?
Most properties today come with brick features, ranging from fireplaces, veneer siding stairs, driveways, patios, etc. Often, bricklayers seal bricks using a masonry sealer, thus making them much easier to clean. Cleaning brick that is not sealed will need more time and work.
Power washing brick which has been sealed is as easy as mopping the floor or vacuuming a carpet. Vacuum your inside brick features in addition to vacuuming your carpets. Put your vacuum on hard-floor mode, or just use the attachments. When it comes time to mop the floors and do the brick, use warm water. When dirt or grime can be seen on brick, scrub it using a scrub brush and a mild detergent.
However, a brick that is not sealed is more difficult to clean. Brick fireplaces are popular within most houses. When getting one built, ask the builder to seal it to make it easier to clean. If you already have one and it is not sealed, there are a few solutions that will remove the soot.
Cleaning brick on the exterior of a house usually means using a power washer. When cleaning siding made from brick veneer, set the power washer to a setting below 1000 PSI. Use plain water, and spray from the top to the bottom. If you are cleaning a brick patio, spray the brick beginning from the edge which is the closest to the house, and then work your way outwards.
When cleaning siding or patios that are extremely dirty or stained, use a power washer in addition to an industrial cleaning brick solution. A brick cleaner can be purchased at most home supply stores. Follow the directions for your power washer. However, if you do not have a power washer, contact your local pressure washing company; they will have all the products and appliances to remove the most stubborn stains on a property.
